Gentle Heating & Soft Cooling
is produced via slow radiation from floors, walls and/or ceilings. The surface area becomes one large energy store. Warmth/cooling is evenly distributed throughout the whole room.
These systems work by circulating warm or chilled water through circuits of high-density cross-linked polyethylene pipes.
Optimum heating levels are reached through lower flow temperatures in the circuits, due to the large surface areas for heat radiation. Typically, the temperature in the circuits can be kept at 35-45 °C with important savings on heating bills as the result. To compare, conventional radiators in central heating systems require about 80 degrees. In cooling mode, the flow temperature can be kept at a very reasonable level. The rooms are pleasantly chilled without lowering significantly the temperature of the surfaces.
Under-floor circuits are laid on to insulation modules beneath the concrete and tiling of the floors. One or more circuits are installed depending on the size of the room. For walls and ceilings, a different type of insulation/fixation is used. The most strict procedures are followed for safety during the installation process: once the circuits are installed, the pressure is tested continuously.
